Post Card Book

I recently picked up a book that I have fallen in love with!! It's called Kaleidoscope by Suzanne Simanaitis. Being newer to the whole mixed media world this has truly been an exercise in art for me. it's helped me to get closer to bridging that gap between just being a rubber stamper and the mixed media artist that I know in my heart I can be. Each page gives me new insight into how to take all those things that I feel in my heart and in my head and make them come out through my fingertips
and onto my work surface.
This particular project
was one
that intrigued me
the most so
far. (I'm only 1/2 way
through
the book) It was
an exercise
where you had to
compile the list
of supplies
and you couldn't
start till you had
all your supplies
on hand, one of
which was a timer.
Each step was
timed, usually you had
5 minutes
to complete each step
. You started
with 4 or 5 large
pieces of mat
board or card board
of some
kind the size of a
legal pad or
larger. The steps
went from
adding paint all the way
to writing
words with markers,
doodling with
a pencil to pasting
on magazine
images to rubber
stamping. There
wasn't time to really
THINK
about where
everything was
going to go or how it
looked best
because when that
time buzzed
you had to be done.
When all
was said and done you
took the
boards and cut
them into 5x7
pieces. The left over
pieces were
then taped together
(obviously) and then
cut into
more 5x7 pieces.
Holes were
punched and it was
turned into a
post card book. There is a
next step to this that I
haven't gotten to
yet, that will
put the finishing
touches on it,
focal points, some
creative
journaling. At this
point I'll be
able to take the time
to make it all
come together and
make it look
finished. Although
I like the
texture of the tape, not
sure I like the color
LOL. I was
very excited about the
project and I
love the feeling I got
as I finished
it and started
seeing the pieces
come together with
each step. I
suppose as I get
better at this
even when I'm
throwing things
together haphazardly like
this it'll
look amazing like
I've seen some
artists work,
but all in due
time, as I say,
I'm a work in
progress.
Depending on how
personal the
finished piece is
I may post
the final results.

This is way cool! I'm going to have to try it. BTW. I purchased that flourish stamp from SA cause I've seen it in your work and fell in love with it.
