Wax on Canvas

This is still a work in progress, but I wanted to show it. I had the canvas painted in the purple and yellow sitting here for some time. It was one that I was playing w/ different ways to make texture and blend paint. I can't remember what it was that I saw that made me want to add some wax to it. Very well might have been all the great pieces posted when I did the beeswax challenge on my Step Outside The Box Saturday website. The woman image is adhered with wax and there are splotches and globs here and there of just plain beeswax, but the darker purple and white blobs (do you like my artistic technical terms LOL) are encaustic wax. I'm still working on this piece though, just not sure where I'm going with it yet, gonna let it sit for a bit more and see what happens in the future.

i really like your use of color and textures in this one. both together create an abstract sort of dimension for the figure to live within quite well. and it's beautiful. :) I had SO much fun with you gurls on our ART Weekend!!! we'll for sure have to do it again sometime ;) inspirational family we have!!!!

Lisa... I love this one too.. the wax looks like "flashes of light" to me, a really a cool technique.

I really think you should submit some of these to ECVA!
