Wedding Canvas

This is the 20x20 canvas I did with the wedding pic I got from my girlfriend. I'm was so excited when I did the background on this. It seems so simple, but it just "wowed" me LOL. I knew that this photograph screamed for lace, I just wasn't sure how I was going to do it. So I went to Walmart, found some lace fabric remnants. I laid the one I wanted over the top of the canvas and took my spray inks and just sprayed the canvas till it was as dark as I wanted it to be. Then I let it sit and dry over night. The next day I pulled the lace off and WOW, it looked soooo kewl!!!
Also I have to give kudos to the guy at my local Office Max. When I get photo's I want to work with, I put them on my memory stick and take them over to Office Max and have them printed out on their laser printer. I have learned to save them at very high resolution and they just come out beautifully!!! When I did this one, I had several others, I was probably there with him for an hour waiting for them all to transfer over from their computer to their printer. However, the wait was soooo worth the pay off!! Now that I know how long it takes, I'll only do a few at a time.

The background on this piece is "Wow"!! I've always been intimidated to try new background techniques but have discovered that they don't have to be complicated to be amazing. Yours so perfectly sets off the lovely wedding photo.

As you say sometimes the simplest techniques used in the right way can produce fantastic results.

Followed your links from mixed media monday and really enjoyed visiting all your creative peices.
