My Muse

This months theme is Imaginary Friends, Who or What is your Muse? I thought about this one long and hard and come to the conclusion that if I was going to participate this month I'd have to be BOLD in doing so. After much consideration I felt that my Muse could only be, none other than the Greatest Muse ever, but God Himself. Who, although, is NOT imaginary, but very real, is my Muse none the less. I find that the days my art is the most productive, and the days that my creativity flows easily is on the days that I have made sure that I have taken time in the morning to start my day with Him, thanking Him for all my blessings and asking Him to stay with me and guide me through my day. Then it seems that whatever I do through out the day helps me be a better artist, I pick the right music to go with what I'm working on, be it Delirious or Mark Broussard or my new favorite, the Soundtrack to the movie Across the Universe. I find the right images, the right stamps, the right paints and inks. Now how many Muse's can do that???? LOL

Lisa, thanks for sharing your Muse with the Street Team. You may think it's bold to claim God as your Muse but I think many of us would raise our hands to say 'me too'. I shared a quote on my blog and it can be interpreted many ways, "Where the Spirit does not work with the hand, there is no Art". For me, it means you are well in spirit, and in tune with faith. He's a powerful Muse indeed.

I would definitely second that... it's easy to overlook God as our muse because in a way it seems so obvious... He's responsible for pretty much everything... our existence, our ability to create... whatever we have comes from Him, but we often forget that simple fact in our day to day lives. It's easy to take the big things for granted. We should be more grateful for all the gifts we are given and the inspiration to use them!

I agree with you 100%! He created the entire world in 6 days...what artist can beat that?!

You are so right, God is the ultimate muse, right there in everything that we do! Thank you for the reminder! Kat :)

You are so right! God uses people and things to communicate with us, so when we're inspired by something or someone, He's sent it to us.

You are sooooo right!! and it's not just in our art... our whole day is better when we start with some God time.

Thank you for a heartfully stated reminder of what matters. Posts that bring you from the outer circumferance of one's life to the rich inner center are priceless. Thank you! jodi barone
