I'm writing this from the breakfast room of the hotel we're staying at in Galena Illinois. If you ever get the chance to visit here you won't be disappointed. The landscape is beautiful, rolling hills and twisty turning roads. In this picture you can see a house up on a hill top above the town even. This part of the state is not your stereotypical "flat-land" at all. Just beautiful and I imagine the tree lined streets are just stunning in the fall when the leaves change color. Downtown is full of quaint little boutiques, art shops, antique shops and of course the customary little t-shirt and trinket shops and gourmet candy stores. Today is the last day of our little excursion then it's home and back to the reality of children and a messy house.
Also, the art fair is next Saturday so I will be buried elbow deep in paints and papers all week getting the last of things done for this. I'm starting to panic a little bit when I let myself think of it. I'm just glad I feel confident that I have more than enough canvas's done. The smaller pieces go a little quicker thankfully. I've already warned my husband that I will be scarce this next week, I'm so glad he's understanding and supportive about my art, I couldn't do this with out him being my biggest cheerleader. I hope all you other artists out there are fortunate to have wonderfully supportive and understanding significant others as well. It sure makes creating flow easier when you don't have to worry that someone would be uspset that you're making art, rather than dusting LOL.

gosh I love it when I find another blogger who lives in wisconsin.
we were just in Elkhorn last weekend for the flea market and Galena....gosh, we haven't been there for a few years now, but it is a great little place to spend a day.
the art show you are talking about...is that in lake geneva ?
Lisa -- I've been to Galena once with a group of high-school friends a couple of years ago. When I stumbled upon the rubber stamp store, I sent them on ahead and said I'd catch up. I did an hour later. We also went to a place called Glaze & Graze where we painted a pottery place setting the night before; then prepared a meal on it together the next evening. Lotsa fun. I hope you had a great trip! You'll do fantastic at the ART show!! Keep us posted!
Ohhhhhhh, Lisa . . . this place is SO charming . . . it looks like a movie setting of a perfect old-timey town!!!! THANKS for sharing!!!!!
